Well my fellow entrepreneurs…CamMorgan Boutique has successfully made it through our first 9 months in business! During this time, we’ve learned that most new boutique owners have questions and doubts similar to the ones that we've had. I will share the pros and cons that I have experienced when it comes to dropshipping along with a few key apps that are necessary via the Shopify platform in order to successfully navigate through the wide world of dropshipping.
Now for those that don't know, dropshipping involves the process of selling items via your online boutique that are warehoused at the actual vendor’s location until the product is sold on your site. At the point of sale, you will then need to purchase the item from the vendor and request for it to be shipped directly to the customer. No upfront costs! Sounds amazing right?? Think again….dropshipping can be a nerve wrecking experience for owners like my daughter and I who love to maintain control over the quality and presentation of the products delivered to our customers. Some key apps to use via Shopify for drop shipping purposes are Modalyst, Oberlo, and Chinabrands US Dropshipping, Dropship Beauty, and My Online Fashion Store. Try one out risk-free and see how it works for your boutique or type in “dropshipping” in the search bar on the Shopify App Store to look for other vendor apps that may suit your needs. You can also check with your favorite vendor to see if they offer a dropship service for their merchandise.
